God spoke directly to Adam and Eve. When is the first time in the Bible that man prayed to talk to God?
Adam, Eve, and Cain all talk to God, but it’s him to comes to them: they don’t pray to him or call on him. ***It says in Genesis 4:26 that it was around the time that Seth was born (one of Adam and Eve’s sons) that “men began to call on the name of the Lord.” That sounds like prayer to talk to God to me. God talks to Noah, but Noah doesn’t talk back or initiate the meetings. A bunch of people get together to build a tower to reach God, but they don’t pray to him or talk to him. ***In Gen. 12:8 it says that Abram calls on the name of the Lord. It doesn’t say God appears, although God appears unbidden to Abram/Abraham many times. Abram also sacrifices to God, but he isn’t said to pray.
