Given that OpenRFP represents a new marketing “paradigm”, why should any vendor, large or small, decide to become an “early adopter” of your e-Procument services?
No matter the position of a vendor in the market relative to the competition, there are reasons to start now to work with OpenRFP. First and foremost, librarians who have taken time to review our services like what we are doing. It is not reasonable to believe that even the largest of vendors could possibly get all the new system sales, replacement software, modular upgrades, “third-party only” product sales, etc., simply because overall library market needs are quite diverse and vendor product development tends to be focused on the needs of existing customers who drive vendor product developments through their user groups. Smaller vendors must execute “flanking” maneuvers to sell into the niche areas. OpenRFP supports the classic “marketing warfare” paradigm that helps the little vendor with a story to tell that can be accomplished by a more level playing field. Likewise, the larger market leaders need to be represented as well, in order to maintain their relative competitive position
