In the vision, every person, place or thing can be connected to the web. A wristwatch can become an intelligent web appliance for example a student can use an e-service to download a Spanish dictionary from her computer to her watch. As another example, a car becomes Internet-enabled, providing genuinely useful personal information like real-time directions and location tracking. If the driver were in an accident, an e-service could instantly see what type of damage the car incurred, and be able to call an ambulance, send medical records to the hospital, contact family, make arrangements for the car to be repaired and order a rental car all done automatically, without the accident victim having to worry about it.
