They never did get married from what we know. Rory leaves for her work on the campaign trail. This is the last episode summary: Outside the dragonfly, Lorelai drives up in the Jeep. She is rushing Rory to the Inn so that she can meet Christiane Amanpour. Rory doesn’t believe her mother until she walks into the Inn and sees correspondent with her own two eyes. Lorelai approaches Christiane and introduces herself. She tells her all about Rory and asks if she would mind meeting her. Christiane graciously consents. Rory is in awe but she tells her what she would like to do. Christiane gives her some career advice and hands her a card. She tells Rory to send her some of her pieces and they can keep in touch.
