The short and honest answer to this is NO. Animal rights groups spread this totally false accusation in order to make money off the people by appealing to their pity. The fact is that animals in slaughterhouses get stunned. Meaning that they are rendered completely senseless (brain dead), either with electric shock or with a captive bolt stunner. After this the animals are drained of the blood; this only takes a few seconds. As the animal looses all blood it suffers a cardiac arrest and dies quickly while completely senseless. In other words it does not feel anything. However, the nerves often will still twitch for some time; legs and eyes moving, but the animal has cometely and painless expired. It is because of this nerve activity that animal rights groups claim that the animal is “still alive”. But this is an outright and willful lie they spread to achieve extreme political goals. The slaughter of animals is bloody and to some even gory but it is quick and painless for the animals a
