GF03 What do I need to file electronically? Technical requirements are minimal and inexpensive.
• Access to a personal computer* with: • Any word-processing program to create documents (Wordperfect, MS-Word, etc.). • An internet connection to access ECF and email. Dial-up connections work, but a faster connection (DSL, cable, etc.) is always better. • An approved internet browser. • PDF Reader software (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader). • PDF Writer (converter) software. • A scanner (OPTIONAL) for imaging documents to be filed electronically that are not available in electronic format. • An email account. • An ECF account. • A PACER account. Adobe Acrobat’s portable document format (PDF) is the key to the system because it makes all documents viewable in their original format on any computer regardless of whether they were scanned or created by a word processor and irrespective of the type of computer or word processing software used by the individual who created them or by others who wish to view them.
