Getting to New York using Metro-North Railroad?
I’m planning on visiting New York City from December 21st (Sunday) to 24th (Wednesday). I live in Montreal (Quebec) and I was thinking about driving to Poughkeepsie, leaving my car there and taking the MTA to New York Grand Central. That would cost me and my wife about $65 ($50 for the round-trip tickets and $15 for parking). Parking in New York would cost over $150. I checked out the Amtrak option, but still too expensive ($144 from Albany NY). So do you think the MTA is a good way to get to New York? Is it ok if we have some luggage with us? Also, is the parking safe in Poughkeepsie, and are there enough parking spaces around that time of the year? Thanks for your help! I looked at taking the Adirondack train (Amtrak), but it would take 11 hours to get to NYC (I would only get there aroun 8:30 PM), whereas the driving to Poughkeepsie with the Metro-North Railroad to Grand Central would take about 7 hours (I plan on getting in NYC around 2 PM). So I think the Amtrak leaves me less fle
