Getting off probation early?
You need to speak with your probation officer about this. Every place handles it differently. ALL community service must be done, all classes must be completed, and all of the fine and ct costs need to be paid. Your supervision fees only need to be current. In most jurisdictions – one must hire an attorney to petition the court. The attorney requests the hearing (you can’t just wak into the courtroom on your own). Once notice is given to the probation dept, the probation dept will review your file and make an official recommendation to the DA’s office. Then, at your hearing – the DA’s will take that recommendation, add their own opinion to it, and argue their case in front of the Judge if they oppose it. If they do not oppose it – then the hearing is very, very short (no point in a protracted discussion then) The Judge then makes a decision. Now, when I worked at the prob dept in Dallas – it was a bit different. As they have 50,000 people on probation, they are happy to let people off
