Generalities What are Civil and Environmental Engineering all about?
Civil engineering is arguably the most fundamental of the engineering disciplines. It encompasses an understanding of the forces that exist in nature and how to solve problems relating to how we live with them. This could mean designing bridges, water purification, tunnelling, controlling coastal erosion etc. Not only do engineers know how to deal with these technical issues but they also increasingly need to understand the financial, sociological and political framework in which decision about these sort of projects are made.
