General Troubleshooting Why does Otto take longer to lock when I leave for work in the morning?
• The first time you turn Otto on in the morning, it is likely that Otto is performing a “cold-start”. If Otto has been off for more than 8-10 hours, it will not have any memory of the GPS satellite data. As a result, Otto will scan the sky for the available GPS satellites before it can lock onto the signal. This is a process that can take up to 3 minutes during a cold start as long as the Otto device has a clear view of the sky. The next time you power Otto on (provided it has been less than 8 hours since it was powered off) it will perform a “warm-start”. Otto will use the knowledge it has of which satellites were available the last time it was powered on, allowing it to obtain signal lock within seconds. Otto’s view of the sky can also alter the time it takes to obtain signal lock, and it may take longer than normal to lock downtown while surrounded by tall buildings.
