You can have your computer flash a visual warning. In the sound control panel turn on Sound Sentry in Windows or System Alert on a Mac. Found under Universal Access > Hearing in Mac OS 10. ShowSounds – Displays closed captions for sounds or digitized speech but only if the application has closed captions built in. Found in the Sound Control Panel.
