As much as possible, avoid touching or moving newly born puppies. Unless it’s needed and you see the mother dog having difficulty whelping her pups, just don’t touch them yet. Give them a few weeks before you try moving them to a bigger place. Additionally, only one individual or the person who is closest to the dog should do this. Dogs who have just given birth don’t want to be disturbed. They want some privacy to enable them to enjoy their little ones. Puppies also need to be alone with their mom so they can suckle and bond with her. Sometimes it’s hard to resist the urge to touch them but not just yet. It’s best if you could just observe them at a distance and leave them in a quite environment for several weeks. Avoid letting other people other than you visit or touch the puppies as diseases can easily be passed on to them and there’s also a risk that the mother might ignore the pups for good if they’re disturbed. If you see some problems, only your vet can look into their condition
