• If an adapter address or physical address is listed, this is the virtual MAC (adapter) address assigned to the computer by the modem, when connected by the USB connection. • The IP address should have an IP address listed, other than 169.254.X.X. If you have an IP address listed for the RCA digital cable modem, you are pulling an IP address from your Internet service provider (ISP). If you are not getting an IP address, or you have 169.254.X.X, your cable modem is not pulling from your ISP’s DHCP server.
