For people who live near their grandparent(s)/visit them alot- what are they like?
One of my grandmas is really quiet, and she likes to sit around and watch the Home and Garden channel and crime shows all day. I really like to visit her because she’s a nice lady and keeps a very peaceful atmosphere around her. She’s divorced, and her ex-husband (my grandpa on that side of the family) is crazy and racist. I haven’t been to see him since he hurt his ankle 2 years ago, and he was complaining about a “Jap” stealing his watch while he was in the hospital – it was actually his neighbor who put it in his mailbox. He lives in a small town in Iowa and drives a school bus for a living. (The thought of him around kids scares me) The grandparents on my dad’s side of the family live in a nursing home in my home town. When I was growing up, they lived in a house around the block, and I have to say I spent more time with each of them than I’ve ever spent with my own parents or any other relative in my life.
