I did not have insurance. I ended up paying a little over $13,000 for the hospital bill and $7,400 for OBGYN. All paid out of pocket! My husband and I made too much money for medicaid assistance. However, after receiving the bill from the hospital, we requested an itemized statement, because it was so much. As it turns out, we were charged a separate fee for “delivery room” and “recovery room” and they were the same room. We disputed that, and over the course of several months, and several letters, the hospital issued us a $1,600 credit for the “recovery room” If you do not have insurance, I suggest asking for itemized statements. It may save you some money- which you will need with a new baby!!
