For ITMA Asia, what role does Textile Committee play?
RA: In the present context of need for technology upgradation, ITMA Asia is a very important event for the textile industry. Here too the Textiles Committee wants to play the role of a facilitator and help the organisers in their road shows to popularise the event in India. We are just co-organisers in the road shows along with MP International of Singapore, which is managing the entire show to be held from October 17 to 21, 2005. ITJ: How has the Indian textile industry fared in the last 6 months, following lifting of quotas? RA: As far as some feedback from the industry, I feel that by and large the industry has been faring well. But some of the figures we are receiving now & then are a bit confusing. According to entrepreneurs, all their order books are full. But export figures have fallen, showing that they do not match with the sentiments of the industry.
