Here is an excerpt from Licensing policy, section 3331: Issue a residential child-care permit to care for children up to age 18 years (except for maternity homes). There is no law that restricts the age range in a maternity home, and the age range of all clients in care should be included as a restriction on the permit. For all other residential operations, Chapter 42 of the HRC provides for the issuance of a permit to care for children up to the age of 18-years old. If the operation provides care for young adults or adults, add that information as a condition to the permit. Except for maternity homes: Licensing does not regulate care for adults. Therefore, there is no reason for a license from us to reflect an age above 18 years old. This is also true for verified foster homes. If the operation or home does provide care for adults, they must meet the limited minimum standards associated with that care.
