For Financial Aid purposes, full time is considered 12 credit hours or more per semester. 3/4 time is 9 to 11 credit hours per semester. Half time is 6 to 8 credit hours per semester and less than half time is 5 or less credit hours per semester. A student must be enrolled at least half time (6 credit hours) to receive Federal Direct Student Loans and Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans. A student must be full time (at least 12 credit hours) to be eligible for NYS TAP.
