For maximum performance the straightest and shortest distance to the exterior is preferred. Try to use the fewest possible turns. When a turn is necessary, it should be at a 45˚ angle. A 90˚ or other sharp bend will disturb the flow of air and reduce the effectiveness of the ventilation hood.
