MLA style requires the first line of each source listed on the works cited page to be aligned with the left margin, but every line of that source that follows must be indented half an inch. To format your works cited page this way before you begin typing it in Microsoft Office Word 2007 (the version used on all HCC computers), from the “Home” tab at the top of the window, click the arrow in the bottom-right corner of the “Paragraph” section of the toolbar. The “Paragraph” dialog box will open. Under the indentation section of this box, set “Left” to 0.5″ and choose “Hanging” from the pull-down menu under “Special.” Everything you type from this point forward will employ a hanging indentation after each paragraph return. If you have already typed the text and wish to convert it to a half-inch hanging indentation, just be sure all the text you wish to format this way is selected before you click the “Paragraph” dialog box.
