Flight instructor job?

At minimum, you need a commercial pilot certificate with an instrument rating for single engine aircraft, and a certified flight instructor (CFI) certificate. If you wish to do instrument instruction, you need to have a certified flight instructor instrument certificate (CFII), and if you wish to teach in multi-engine aircraft you need a commercial pilot license for multi-engine aircraft and a certified flight instructor multi-engine (MEI) certificate. Depending on what type of school you do your training at (Part 141 or Part 61), the minimum total hours required ranges from 200 to 250. Pay for flight instructors is very dependent on where you work and how busy the flight school is. A full-time entry level flight instructor who gets paid by the instruction hour will probably make less than $20k USD per year. An experienced instructor at a large school who is on salary might make as much as $40k.
