Buddha in Tibet – 7c A.D. Symbols of Reiki are multi-functional. They are simplified and by using them you “call” or invoke only some of the qualities that relate to the original material. This is just part of their function, for knowledge, study, practice and meditation activate the depth of their qualities. To have the instructions for meditation does not necessarily mean that meditation and awakening is guaranteed to be successful, without personal effort over a long period of time. The symbols of Reiki are an essential component of the degrees of Tradtional Reiki. In Reiki we do not use them “out of respect” for Dr. Usui as someone suggested in one school of Reiki. The symbols were chosen by Usui for a reason, they have meaning, functions and attributes.
