It is the COBRA participant’s responsibility to notify Intel Health Benefits Center if they become entitled (enrolled) to Medicare after electing COBRA. Enrollment in Medicare will terminate the ex-employee’s COBRA coverage. If the ex-employee was retirement eligible under any one of Intel’s eligibility rules, the retiree could elect to enroll in the Intel Retiree Medical Plan upon the loss of COBRA coverage. Medicare would be the primary coverage and IRMP the secondary coverage.
