First time rider, what is good durable motorcycle jacket?

If you are riding in conditions where you might face rain you cannot beat textile jackets, although there are now leather/Goretex mix jackets – but I haven’t tried one, textiles also tend to be warmer and slightly cheaper. Above all, look for a jacket that fits snugly and comfortably, in position on your bike while wearing helmet and gloves, you should go for one with armour in shoulders, elbows and back. If you go with leather make sure that it is at least 1.2-1.4mm thick – it will feel stiff but wears in quickly – with concealed double seams on all but decorative panels, kangaroo skin is more abrasion resistant than cow but much more expensive (almost double).
