Firefighting seems to be a male dominated profession. How common are female firefighters?
I think this is a male dominated profession, but not necessarily because of prejudice against women. In order to become a firefighter, I believe, and correct me if I’m wrong, that the person wanting to become one must pass physical tests, including if they can successfully carry a certain amount of pounds down a ladder. More men have the lower physical strength to do this. I would not care if it was a male or female who saved me from a fire, only that the person was competent to do it, and sis their best.
