File Size – How big of files can I download? Can I download movies and TV shows without causing a problem for the community?
The community shares a single (albeit commercial grade) connection so we do have to be careful about one neighbor not overloading the system. Movies and TV shows are basically out of the question because they range from several hundreds of megabytes in size to several thousands of megabytes (gigabytes). We are OK with combined downloads and uploads not exceeding 500 MB per day – a very large allowance but not large enough to permit downloading of movies and TV shows. Our Internet provider has limits on how many megabytes or gigabytes the overall LAN can download and upload each month. We don’t want to have one of our neighbors accidentally cause our provider to terminate the community’s connection! Here is a link to some approximate file sizes.
