File Options – What is “Renaming”, “Overwriting” and “Recreating File Structure”?
Firstly, open File Options from either Digger or Borer as follows: 1. Click on Tools on the menu Bar 2. Click on User Options Save files by RENAMING existing files of same name If you click this radio button then any new files downloaded will be renamed if they already exist on your hard drive. We have given a lot of thought to this but whatever strategy of renaming is adopted can lead to confusion! We use the following method file07.abc file08.abc file09.abc file10.abc file11.abc file12.abc is saved the second time as: 00_file07.abc 00_file08.abc 00_file09.abc 00_file10.abc 00_file11.abc 00_file12.abc and the third time as: 01_file07.abc 01_file08.abc 01_file09.abc 01_file10.abc 01_file11.abc 01_file12.abc and so on. The main advantage of this is that you can delete anything beginning with 00_ or 01_ once you have established that it is a duplicate series. Renumbering using the more usual methods can easily give rise to the following confusing situation which can take a lot of sorting
