FIA Principles and Standards of Fundraising Practice prohibit the use of percentage based remuneration. What alternative forms of incentive based remuneration could be offered to fundraisers?
As FIA’s Principles and Standards of Fundraising Practice prohibit the use of percentage based remuneration, FIA recommends the use of a salary or an hourly rate. If your charity would like to use an incentive-based salary package, FIA suggests using performance based measures attached to bonuses as opposed to the use of percentage based remuneration. These bonuses may be based upon the number of donors, financial targets, calls made to potential donors, acquisition of new donors, reactivating lapsed donors or other measures. So for instance, a base salary could be paid with bonuses that are paid upon reaching specific targets (eg. Base rate + a $2,000 bonus if X major donors are recruited).
