I’m not an atheist, but… Francis Collins believes God created the universe over 13.5 billion years ago. Creationism is a philosophical belief regarding origins, not necessarily a belief that God created the universe less than 10,000 years ago. Evolution says nothing about origins. As a supporter of evolution Collins has written several books defending evolution to the Christian community. I don’t see the problem, unless people want to discriminate based on religion.
