Feather Beds, Where Did They Come From and How Are They Used Today?
Feather beds have always been endured as a luxury item by people from all over the world. They originated in northern Europe. In the past they were considered to be luxury items as they still are today. When feather beds first originated in Europe only the wealthy and rich would have something so luxurious. They were filled with goose down feathers and provided the most comfort anyone could have with their sleeping experience. Not many people could afford to own a goose down bed and it was considered to be one of the fine riches someone could own if they did. They would cherish it for years and take very good care of it. Most people in the middle ages slept on stacks of hay. Their beds were made from straw and hay and they would try to keep the hay from poking into people by shoving the hay into sacks. This would form like pillows and a mattress and was the best way to get the best night’s sleep. Those wealthy people who had money to spend found a solution that was much better than hay
