Explain the process of Tanjore painting creation?
A typical tanjore painting is centered on a main figure, mostly a deity. To start with a deity of choice is either traced or drawn on a specially prepared wooden board. After which the stones are placed on areas such as oranament and mandapam.Then, a solution of chalk powder and arabic gum, called the “maggu” is applied , to create a relief, embossed effect. Gold foils are pasted over the maggu to bring out the richness, before the board is finally painted with colors. American diamonds, pearls are stuck to add beauty to the painting, while the arch and curtains provides the perfect finish.
