Explain importance of 2,3-Bis-Phospho-Glycerate addition in blood bank?

2,3-BPG is being consumed by the living RBCs stored in the blood banks so the hemoglobin inside have high affinity to O2 and its ability to deliver O2 to tissues is lowered. Giving this blood to patients will affect proper oxygenation of their tissues. The solution is providing this blood with an organic compound which can be utilized by the RBCs to regenerate 2,3-BPG. Examples of those compounds are the inositol and the dihydroxyacetone phosphate.
