Everyone occasionally misplaces car keys, sometimes even a wallet. But a $40,000 ring?
When Keith and Linda Stetzer found a three carat diamond ring on the floor of a parking garage, they were determined to return the rock to its rightful owner. “We didn’t earn it,” Keith said. “It’s not ours, so you know it has to belong to somebody.” The Virginia couple consulted a local jeweler, who told them the ring was worth a cool $40K. “I hope the owner comes forth,” Linda said. “That would just make us feel really good.” A week later, the ring’s owner was located, and she broke into sobs on the phone when her husband shared the good news. Even if no one had come forward, the Stetzers had no plans to profit from their faceted find. The good Samaritans planned to auction it off, with the proceeds going to charity.
