Everyone is very excited about this new service, but it seems just like ISDN. Whats the big deal?
DSL Services do have some things in common with ISDN. Customers who require the switched, multi-point capability that ISDN provides, for applications such as videoconferencing, for example, will find ISDN an attractive solution. Future applications of DSL will offer a multi-point solution. Many customers needing the ability to access their corporate LAN or the Internet for long periods of time will find the always on and higher-bandwidth capabilities of the DSL technologies very attractive. One of the greatest benefits of the DSL solution is that the data avoids the contention of the voice network since it is transferred over a dedicated data network.
