Even though the certified record is saved electronically, is a hard copy required?

A. Currently, the CIO, Department of Commerce still mandates that a hard copy of the certified record be printed, signed by the supervisor, and filed with the timekeeping records for six years. This can easily be done by the supervisor at the time of certifying. After certifying the record, the supervisor should immediately go back into the record, click the printer icon, and then Cancel out of the record. This will result in a printed copy of the certified record without changing the certification status. If the record is printed before the certification is completed, it will be a copy of the validated record, not the required certified record. The timekeeper can also print the certified copies by selecting the Summary screen for each employee. This must be done after the record is certified but before it is sent to the NFC for processing as part of the BUILD process. There is no Print All button.
