• Whilst the core AntiVirus and Content-Security capability of MailScan is provided by eScan, the additional features and capability provided by MailScan are as follows: • Ability to run as a Service & start before your Mail Server software starts (MailScan-Lite will not start as a Service). • Ability to service multiple threads (MailScan-Lite does not support multiple threads). • Ability to service incoming SMTP threads (MailScan-Lite does not support incoming connections). In short, MailScan-Lite has been programmed to protect email clients like Outlook Express, Netscape, Eudora, etc, that are connecting to a remote mail server – typically via POP3 (eg desktop email client connecting direct to an ISP’s mail server). ‘MailScan for Mail Servers’ has been specifically designed to work with mail servers, at the network server level.
