Equipment FAQ 5: How much does fencing equipment cost?
In the words of the Renaissance Fencing Club coaches, fencing costs more than soccer and less than hockey. Like most sports, the athlete may decide to be frugal or choose to buy the absolute top of the line equipment. The sections below provide some description of three typical stages in fencing. The costs are rough approximations and reflect beginning and intermediate level equipment. As one would expect, state-of-the-art equipment can run into very high costs as it does for every sport. Please note that the coaches at Renaissance Fencing Club will advise new students and parent of young students of the most economical way to enter the sport. The coaches will recommend when, and only when, it would be appropriate to purchase a piece of equipment.
