Enoch and Elijah: Where Are They Now?
Hebrews 11:5: By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, and was not found, because God had taken him; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Other heroes of faith are then listed in this hall of fame. Then the writer says: All these died in faith, not having received the promises. They saw the promises from afar and welcomed them. They confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims in the land (Heb. 11:13). What more shall I say?Gideon, Barak, Jephthah, David and Samuel and the prophetsAll these, though well attested through their faith, did not obtain the promise (Heb. 11:32, 39). The writer to the Hebrews allows for no exceptions when it comes to the question of death. Enoch died, and the prophets died. Elijah, of course, was a celebrated prophet.
