English literature AS comparative essay.. how do you write one?

I have read neither Emma nor Pride and Prejudice. However, if I were to write a comparative essay, I would first explain what the purpose of the essay is. Then I would give a short and very quick summary of the two books. (I’ve no idea how long your essay is, so assuming it’s not too long, a one paragragh summary of each would suffice). Then I would decide what points i would like to make, and working on a point by point basis would explain how Emma does one thing, and how Pride and prejudice differs (or does the same). At the end I would re-iterate all the points i’d previously made in a summary, and wrap it all up by saying how well they compare, how similar or different they are.
