Matriculants to the Emerson College program receive an MA degree in Health Communication as opposed to the MS degree that Tufts awards. The two programs share a core set of four courses in common: Both the Tufts and Emerson programs require that students take two of their core communication courses at Emerson College: Applications of Communication Theory to Health Communication and Media Strategies. Likewise Emerson College graduate students in health communication are required to take two core courses at Tufts Medical School: Introduction to Clinical Medicine and Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Outside of these four core courses, the programs differ considerably. For example, the Emerson Program is 40 credits while the Tufts program is 48 credits.
