• Non-profit organizations • Professional associations • All voluntary sector organizations • Provincial/territorial institutions, including Crown corporations • Universities, colleges and other educational and training bodies • Workplace organizations, including sector councils, labour organizations and business associations • International non-profit organizations • Municipalities 2. How is the “voluntary sector” defined? Voluntary sector organizations are organizations which pursue goals of a public nature. Generally speaking, the structure of these organizations is such that they are not a part of any level of government, and they do not permit profit taking for (re)distribution to its business owners or shareholders.
