the electric choke needs power whenever the engine is running to open it, so hook it to to power that only comes on with the key, this could be a alternator wire or the positive coil wire, but not the solenoid, they are either hot all the time or only in start..

Choke cap wire usually go to the stator wire on the alternator

the electric choke wiring doesnt go to the starter solenoid at all. it must be connected to one of the the “accessory” wires or terminal coming off the ignition switch that will be powered when the key is in the “run” position.

Fasten the ground wire somewhere on the engine. With the engine running, check the voltage of the 2 small lugs on the alternator. One will read 12-13 volts, the other should read 9-10. Hook it to the lower voltage one.
