• Invite Geoff to discuss the Local Area Planning process. • Support 2-3 community meetings to identify issues, develop solutions and endorse the plan. What’s in it for Groups? • The process of developing a plan generates a range of benefits such as greater knowledge of an area’s environment, increased community environmental awareness, access to maps held by departments, and so on. • The plan will adapt regional strategies to local situations. • Groups with endorsed plans gain priority support from NRE in areas such as weed control. • Environmental plans demonstrate a community’s commitment to dealing with environmental problems, and those groups’ funding applications are generally more successful.
