DVD Toolbox Can I burn a DVD-Video disc with this package that will be playable on my set top consumer DVD Player?
A DVD-Video disc has three basic requirements to be compatible with this type of player. 1. A “VOB” data structure 2. The format of the final disc must be UDF (Universal Disc Format) 3. The physical disc must be compatible with consumer DVD Players. DVD TOOLBOX handles the first requirement only. The second requirement is handled by the disc burning software used to create the actual disc (third party). For the third requirement, there is only one mainstream compatible format, DVD-R by Pioneer that is widely compatible with consumer set top DVD Players. Although there are exceptions with some DVD players, as a general guide, any other type of disc (CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-RAM, etc.) will not allow playback in this manner.
