During WW1 when the women were working in the ammunition factories, why would their skin turn yellow?
The most ironic fact about these muntion girls is that they had to make a set quota of shells per day and any made after was paid at piece – work rates so it bumped up their wages considerably to finish the quota as quickly as possible and then work EVEN faster to get paid extra for every shell thereafter, BUT this soon turned into disaster as certain people found a simple trick to complete the shells faster and that was to put 2 detonators inside instead of 1 ,so when these shipments found there way to the frontline trenches and into the barrels of the guns as soon as they were fired the gun barrel would explode killing and maiming anyone unlucky enough to be standing near so in the first weeks of WW1 more British soldier’s got killed by their own ammunition than by the German’s.
