During matches two people score and control the game. What are they called and what tasks should each of these perform ?
The officials are called the Referee who has full control of the match and the Marker who is there to assist the Referee by calling the score and the play. i.e. Marker calls service faults and shots which are not good. He also repeats the Referee’s decision. The Referee is responsible for answering all appeals from the players. You will find rules 18, 19 & 20 with guidelines G 18 & G 19 and Appendix 3 in the 2001 rules all deal with the officials duties and responsibilities. Category: 02.
