DUEL Spectrum grow light bulbs a false economy?
Some companies over the years have produced “duel spectrum” grow light bulbs a kind of “make do” with one bulb idea. The concept being that you won’t have to buy a Metal halide bulb for vegetative growth and a High pressure sodium bulb for the flowering cycle. The science behind it is that the light wavelength is changed from instead of using light from two different bulbs, at two separate ends of the light spectrum, a total change in light wavelength has taken place to meet in the middle. In theory it’s ok but in practise this is compromise! To get to maximum from your plants, especially when grow ultra high value cropping plants. It seems like madness to save a £1 or so at the start of your crop, the result being you may be losing as much as 20% of your harvest in trying to save money on a bulb that doesn’t emit the right type of light wavelength or power! For Maximum yield use the SOLARBURST MH bulb for vegetative growth and the SOLARBURST SUPER HPS bulb for the flowering cycle! Hap
