Due to go on holiday to Mexico. What currency should I get for Mexico – Mexican peso or American dollars?
along the border and in most cities you can use either dollars or pesos they like them both,the only draw back to using dollars is you need to be up on the exchange rate or you may pay more without knowing and getting the right change is unlikely ,pesos are easy to learn and give you a better bartering position besides items are marked for sale in pesos,before leaving the usa visit your bank and have them get you about 300 dollars worth of pesos which is about 3000 pesos(this is plenty for the little things to get you around) it will take the average bank about 5 days to get your pesos(study up on line what the money looks like) in any case i have always found that my debit card is my best friend in mexico as atm’s are available and do all the work for you,you request an amount in pesos and the proper amount is withdrawn at current exchange rates in dollars from your account here. really quite easy.travelers checks are nice but in some places a hassle to redeem, credit cards are nice b
