Contractor may submit alternate details that satisfy the performance and design requirements per Contract Documents and Section 01301, Contractor Submittals. 2008-06-19 “Drawing T-13, Detail 3 – A special temporary 2 steel plug is screwed into the grout hole coupling during the casting operation. The hole that is blocked out in the concrete lining by the plug does not allow a welder to readily seal weld the standard 2 plug with the recessed hexagonal socket unless the plug screws in at least 1/4 below the top of the grout hole coupling. In order to insure the welding position of the plug the thickness of the plugs must be machined down. The recessed hexagonal sockets in the plugs are rounded at the bottom so any reduction of depth creates a problem for the standard socket tools. We request that we may modify standard square or hexagonal headed plugs by cutting off the heads and machining down the p
