Don the advantages of public financing of campaigns tilt more towards Democrats than Republicans?
A. In states and cities with clean elections systems in place, Democrats have typically been more likely to accept public financing and the limits on private fundraising, but more and more Republicans are joining the system. In the upcoming September, 2006 primary election in Arizona, nearly 60% of the Republican candidates–58.5%–along with 80% of the Democratic candidates are now running as participating, clean money candidates.
